Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform outbound global conflict checks. This involves:
  • Request a corporate tree from the Client global office.
  • Review the validity of the corporate tree against NZ Companies Office, client financial statements, client websites and clients’ own corporate structure diagrams.
  • Issue the global conflict check and process responses as they are received.
  • Communicate with the engagement team when all activities are complete.
  • Communicate with the Ethics and Independence Manager if there are any potential conflicts.
  • Communicate with the relevant parties across the Client network once final decision has been reached regarding whether there is a conflict.
  • Respond to inbound global conflict checks, including exporting daily the listing of inbound checks and checking against the Client New Zealand client database for potential matches.
  • Liaise with the relevant Client New Zealand partners if there is a match, to determine the services provided to the client. Communicate with the Ethics and Independence Manager to determine whether there is a conflict of interest.
  • Respond to inbound checks confirming no conflicts if there is no match, or communicate the details of local relevant services provided and whether there is a potential conflict.
  • Maintain the independence email inbox to provide transparency of the status of all inbound and outbound global conflict checks.
  • Respond to requests for National conflict check results by searching the national conflict check in the Power BI report, extracting the conflict results and sending the results to the engagement teams.
  • Other duties in support of the Ethics and Independence team and the wider Quality & Ethics Team as required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in the accounting industry is highly preferred.
  • A good understanding of company corporate structures.
  • Experience with current technologies like Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, PowerBI).
  • Excellent organisational skills, proactive and eager to learn.
  • Self-directed and able to investigate information provided and be inquisitive.
  • Excellent written English skills for email and instant messaging communication.
  • Good verbal English skills for Teams calls with the Ethics and Independence Manager and other members of the Quality & Ethics Team.
