Overview The Remote Accountant is seeking an administrative professional to support client onboarding, workflow management, documentation, and communications within our practice. This role supports Australian accounting firms and clients, using cloud-based tools to maintain accurate records and ensure timely delivery of services. Experience Required 3+ years’ experience as an administrative assistant or practice manager. Experience working with an Australian Accounting firm Experience with an accounting package (Xero is a must have). Key Responsibilities Manage incoming client queries via email, social media channels and other communication channels, providing timely responses or escalating where needed. Onboard new clients, process engagement letters and set clients up on the ATO portal and internal systems. Coordinate the collection of required documentation for tax returns and compliance services. Document management by maintaining accurate client records, databases, and filing systems. Initial preparation of jobs (scheduling, checklists, workpapers). Maintain workflow tracking to ensure deadlines (e.g., tax lodgments) are met. Invoicing & Debtor management Appointment & Calendar management Assist with the distribution of practice updates, newsletters, and client communications. Coordinate the creation of professional but easy-to-understand client resources, checklists, and supporting materials. Software Xero Karbon XPM Excel Annature Skills & Abilities 2+ year prior experience in an administrative, executive assistant, or practice support role (preferably in accounting, tax, or professional services). Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Excellent organisational skills and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Comfortable working with cloud-based software (e.g., Microsoft Office, practice management tools, document management systems). Basic familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp (training will be provided). Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. A collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and improve team processes System Requirements Stable internet connection (at least 80 Mbps).
