Lexis Nexis Legal and Professional operates a large platform for applications and services to legal professionals across the globe. As part of the SRE and Cloud Operations team, this role supports critical relational and non-relational systems powering our advanced search and retrieval systems. Our systems are primarily hosted in AWS cloud, managing various database technologies to support our business. Lexis Nexis is at the forefront of technology adoption, leading the market with AI systems driven by LLM technologies. As a DBA, you will leverage AWS database management skills to optimize creation, deployment, and operation of databases globally. This position requires strong relational database development skills and specific experience with AWS RDS databases. It offers significant growth opportunities, encouraging exploration of new technologies. This role supports critical customer applications requiring 24x7 operation with 99.99% uptime.

Responsibilities:
As a key member of the SRE and Cloud Operations team, your responsibilities include:
• Automate creation of standard database configurations for platforms like Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server
• Maintain, support, and upgrade database systems
• Coordinate version upgrades with AWS
• Assist in migrations between database platforms (e.g., Oracle to Postgres)
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize queries
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation
• Manage capacity decisions including technology selection, high availability, storage, and compute
• Support non-relational databases such as DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Apache Solr, Cassandra, Redis

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science/Engineering
• 4-6 years DBA experience, with at least 1 year in AWS RDS
• Experience with multiple database platforms: Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL
• Experience with automation and IaC tools like CloudFormation and Terraform is desirable
• Scripting skills in Python, BASH, JavaScript, Go, etc.
• Proven experience in performance and capacity problem-solving
• AWS certifications are a plus but not required; support for certification is provided
