Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Within the team, the DBA is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and optimizing the company's internal and client databases.
  • Participate in the setup, administration, and maintenance of databases (pre-production and production).
  • Set up and control access permissions and privileges for different database users.
  • Develop and test backup and recovery plans and mechanisms for databases.
  • Analyze database performance issues and provide improvements to ensure adequate application performance.
  • Collaborate with other teams (Infra, DEV, and Security) to provide them with the necessary environments, tools, data, and database coaching for their daily tasks.
  • Participate in technical and operational support from a data perspective.
  • Participate in writing and maintaining operational procedures related to databases
  • Occasionally participate in the development of the persistence layer and data model necessary for new features.
  • Open to being on-call support level 2 in rotation 1 week out of 2 (evenings and weekends)
  • Technology environment: Agile (Scrum) and Lean (Kanban) methodologies, Docker, Maven, Git, Jenkins, Terraform, JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow

COMPETENCIES

Core Competencies (Must-have Competencies)

  • 3 to 5 years of concrete experience in administration, maintenance, and optimization of relational databases (Oracle, SQL server, or others) and development
  • Good knowledge of database management in the cloud (Azure, AWS, and GCP)
  • Experience in execution plan analysis and performance optimization
  • Knowledge in data encryption (data at rest, data in motion) – SQL TDE or others
  • Good professional experience with Windows and Linux
  • Knowledge of a scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python) or experience in application development (asset)
  • Knowledge of backup and restoration
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of organization, priority management, rigor, autonomy, proactivity, and initiative.
  • Very good command of functional English (oral and written).

Qualifications
Educational Qualification/s

  • University degree in computer science, software engineering, or other relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Work From Home Set-up
  • Shift: 8PM – 5AM Manila
  • Pre-planned on-call schedule outside working hours and weekends
