Reporting to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager, the Paralegal will support legal and compliance matters, manage documentation, assist with regulatory issues, and ensure legal processes align with industry regulations and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

The Paralegal will be an integral part of the Legal & Compliance Department, performing the following:

  • Conduct thorough legal research, analysis, and interpretation of laws and jurisprudence and provide summaries to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager
  • Manage the document execution process, including the notarization, legalization and other formalities and organize files and documents of the legal department
  • Assist in preparation of pleadings, affidavits, and other legal documents related to shipping and logistics transactions, claims, and disputes
  • Provide support to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager, in collaboration with pertinent business departments, to analyse, draft, and provide advice for complex and non-complex contracts, and implement changes to contracts and templates based on new procedures or legislations
  • Manage case and contracts files and maintain organized electronic and physical records
  • Support the Legal & Compliance Department in the implementation of various projects, processes and tools, including data collection for ESG Reporting
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including regulatory filings, entity maintenance, and board resolutions.
  • Support the development of internal legal templates and compliance checklists.
  • Liaise with internal departments to support business objectives while managing legal risk.

Key Qualifications :

  • Degree in Law (JD or LL.B) or related field
  • Shipping or logistics experience is desired, but not required
  • Experience in drafting legal documents
  • Ability to grasps legal concepts related to shipping and logistics
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently while following directions and procedures
  • Strong legal research, writing and investigation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills
