JOB SUMMARY

The On-Site Design Officer is responsible for overseeing design related aspects of construction projects directly at the site. This role ensures that the design intent is accurately implemented, coordinates with contractors and consultants, and resolves design issues during construction. The architect/engineer acts as a bridge between design and execution, maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Design Implementation & Oversight

a. Ensure architectural/engineering plans and specifications are correctly interpreted and executed on-site.

b. Monitor construction activities to verify alignment with approved drawings and design intent.

c. Provide, review and approve all necessary site drawings including but not limited to Shop drawings, spot details (RFA/RFI).

d. Conduct regular inspections and site walks to assess progress and quality.

e. Check all materials associated with installations in accordance with approved submittals and product data to ensure compliance.

  • Coordination & Communication

a. Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve design-related issues.

b. Attend coordination meetings and provide architectural input during site discussions. Presides the design coordination meetings.

c. Liaise with the design team for clarifications, revisions, and updates.

d. Participate, coordinate and schedule all consultant's attendance during construction meeting and periodic site inspections.

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance

a. Review all materials and finishes associated with installations in accordance with approved submittals and product data to ensure compliance with design specifications.

b. Ensure construction adheres to building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.

c. Prepare and submit architectural/engineering inspection requests and punch lists.

d. Check the progress of construction is properly executed during execution phase.

e. Prepares punch list reports of all defective, deficient, incomplete, and unsatisfactory works for correction and repair

f. Conducts spot checking and examine/evaluate the quality of installations to maintain compliance with construction standards and specifications.

g. Check the testing and sampling of materials and ascertain that all samples requiring testing area are properly done, recorded and reported.

  • Documentation & Reporting

a. Maintain updated records of architectural drawings, revisions, and site instructions.

b. Prepare daily or weekly site reports highlighting architectural concerns and progress.

c. Spot checking as-built drawings and documentation for PIDS' internal reference.

  • Problem Solving & Technical Support

a. Provide immediate solutions to architectural issues encountered during construction.

b. Recommend design adjustments when necessary, ensuring feasibility and compliance.

c. Support the project site team with technical details and clarifications.

d. Keeping and maintaining inspection checklist, reports and records in a complete, accurate and orderly manner

e. Prepare weekly progress reports to PIDS ADMR and EDMR Leads

f. Other tasks as instructed by immediate superior

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Must be a graduate of Architecture and/or Civil Engineering

At least 5 year of work experience related to construction operation.

With acceptable oral and written communication skills

Board exam passer with a valid PRC license
