Overview RELX – Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines Lead System Engineer opportunity focused on infrastructure and hosting operations within a cloud environment. Responsibilities Operational Support Leadership: Provide leadership and direction for operational support teams, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and effective communication with stakeholders. Service level management: Establish and monitor SLAs for operational support activities and continuously improve support processes. Monitoring and observability: Implement and optimize monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to enable proactive issue detection and resolution. Team leadership: Lead and mentor the infrastructure team to ensure successful execution of projects and initiatives. Incident Management: Establish incident management processes, define severity levels, escalation paths, and communication protocols for incidents impacting cloud services. Major Incident Response: Develop and maintain major incident response plans, conduct tabletop exercises, and lead post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence. Monitoring and Observability (ongoing): Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions using tools such as New Relic to track health, performance, and availability. Performance Optimization: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance metrics and implement tuning to improve efficiency and resource utilization; collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance in the cloud. Trend Analysis and Reporting: Conduct trend analysis on system performance and incidents; develop dashboards and reports to inform data-driven decisions. Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of infrastructure configurations and procedures; provide training and knowledge sharing on AWS technologies and best practices. Team Management and Development: Develop and execute training programs; foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience (3-5 years) in a leadership role, with a focus on infrastructure and hosting operations. Strong technical expertise in cloud technologies (AWS) and services, with hands-on experience in managing cloud infrastructure. (2-3 years) Service Delivery Management Experience (service level management driving problem management and operational efficiencies) Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams / enterprise stakeholder management Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
