Base Pay $13,500.00 / yr – $19,000.00 / yr Key Details Ideal Start Date: Immediately Location: Remote Hours of Work: Hourly, anticipated 40 hours/week Status: Full‑time position Compensation: $7‑$10 /hour Job Purpose The Trust Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing day‑to‑day trust accounting processes for property management companies. This includes maintaining accurate accounting records, communicating with clients, and documenting processes. Responsibilities Ownership of functions Communication and inbox management Weekly update email to client Evaluate and implement routine client communication Notify Account Executive of client dissatisfaction or higher‑level issues Accounting requests Vendor credits, transferring funds, general receipts and deposits Tenant charges, deposits, and credits Owner adjustments and ownership changes Owner cancellations (transfer deposits to new ownership/management, lease‑only payouts) HAP payments (late fees, eviction notices, NSF processing, security deposits) A/P cycle Approve bills, manage vendor payments, and handle corrective journal entries Management fee posting and payout Send physical check files to client and issue stop payments as directed Owner accounting Owner statement review and disbursements Banking Bank deposit follow‑up, reconciliation, and transfers Review issued checks past 90 days and corrective JEs Other projects such as FDR review, 1099 assistance, ad‑hoc reporting, management fee review for new move‑ins, and fee settings on vacant properties Administrative expectations Meet SMART goals monthly and quarterly Attend weekly company meetings and initiatives Required Qualifications Background in accounting or proven understanding of basic accounting principles Experience with AppFolio Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets Strong written communication skills Excellent problem‑solving and detail‑oriented mindset Ability to learn new concepts with written and hands‑on support Preferred Qualifications Experience with Google Suite products Understanding of property management accounting, including Rentvine Working Conditions Work‑from‑home environment Set working hours overlapping Mountain, Central, or Eastern Standard Time Reliable internet connection and webcam for virtual communication Culture Fit / Core Values Think Abundantly Own the Outcome Be Courageous Leverage Your Talents ADEPT Communication – Assess the need, Detail the solution, Energize the conversation, Provide closure, Tell the truth always Benefits Competitive salary PTO Health stipend If this role sounds like a great fit for you, we’d love to hear from you Apply today and help us take our trust accounting capabilities to the next level.
