Join Our Team as a Senior Medical Billing Specialist The Senior Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate insurance verification, payment posting, and billing support for an ophthalmology practice. This role ensures accuracy in billing processes, compliance with HIPAA standards , and contributes to the efficiency of the overall revenue cycle . Over time, responsibilities may expand to include patient registration and other billing functions. Key Responsibilities: Verify insurance eligibility for up to 600 patients monthly (150 weekly), typically 1–2 weeks before scheduled appointments. Ensure timely completion of eligibility checks, even within 1–2 days when needed. Confirm coverage, benefits, and co-pays, flagging any discrepancies for follow-up. Maintain detailed logs of eligibility checks for internal review and audit. Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the Compulink Advanced system. Review electronic remittances and manually posted payments for accuracy and reconciliation. Identify variances, denials, and underpayments, and escalate claims for rebilling or correction. Assist in identifying, researching, and resolving denied or underpaid claims. Collaborate with the in-house billing team on corrected claim submissions. Enter patient demographic and insurance information into the system as needed. Participate in training sessions through recorded workflows (Snagit), email, and virtual meetings. Work closely with internal billing and operations teams to address questions and escalations. Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times. Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience in medical billing or insurance eligibility . Solid background in insurance verification, payment posting, and reconciliations. Skilled in denial management and identifying underpaid claims. Strong attention to detail , persistence, and proactiveness in resolving discrepancies. Clear and coherent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Proven ability to work efficiently in a remote setup while maintaining compliance. Stable employment history. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Compulink Advanced or similar EMR/billing platforms. Background in ophthalmology or cataract-focused practices is a plus. Why Connext?
