Job Description Primary Responsibilities

In charge of performing analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses and reporting test results according to the Quality Management System policies and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Performs sampling, testing, and analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses, in accordance with the QMS and Safety Policies outlined in the Safety Manual.
  • Prepares reagents and test solutions and standardizes volumetric solutions following standard test methods.
  • Participates in proficiency and correlation programs.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment used in analyses.
  • Reads, understands, and follows standard operating procedures.
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory test results, including statistical quality control charts and measurement uncertainties.
  • Prepares and updates reports related to analyses, including statistical quality control charts and measurement uncertainties for routine tests.
  • Signs worksheets and job instructions.
  • Maintains routine documentation such as worksheets, log sheet entries, and sample documentation, ensuring accurate data recording.
  • Coaches lab analysts, technicians, aides, and OJTs on testing procedures and sample preparation.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly workplace environment.
  • Prepares purchase requests for laboratory supplies.
  • Requests cash advances subject to review and approval.
  • Ensures compliance with group and national policies, including maintaining the QMS.
  • Operates ethically in accordance with SGS Code of Integrity.
  • Supports QHSEE policies and objectives, participating in meetings, training, and safety initiatives.
  • Acts promptly in emergency situations and assists in maintaining workplace safety and readiness.
  • Properly disposes of waste in compliance with regulations and SGS Environmental Management System.
  • Reports incidents, near misses, and hazards to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Uses equipment and safety gear properly, reporting damages immediately.
  • Maintains a tidy worksite following the 5S program.
  • Identifies hazards and proposes risk control actions.
  • Participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as needed.
  • Fulfills requirements for the success of the QHSEE Management System.
  • Understands the importance of following policies and procedures to ensure compliance and safety.
Qualifications Profile
  • Education: University or College degree in BS Chemistry, BS Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Agrichemistry, or related sciences.
  • Licensed Chemist or Chemical Technician.
