As a Global Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the company on a global scale. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, providing strategic financial guidance, and driving financial performance for Mad Monkey's continued growth and success. Your expertise will be instrumental in making informed financial decisions that support the company's strategic objectives and contribute to its overall financial health.

You will work closely with the VP FInance and other senior executives to develop and implement financial strategies that align with Mad Monkey's vision and mission. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, managing financial planning and budgeting processes, and providing financial advice and support to senior leadership.

You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of finance professionals, both Global and Regional. You will need to recruit, train, and develop your team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their roles effectively. You will also be responsible for setting performance expectations, providing feedback, and addressing any issues that may arise within the team.

Additionally, you will ensure that all types of company transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, and that monthly financial statements are prepared and reported on time. You will also coordinate the creation of annual budgets and develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive system of policies, procedures, and calendars of activities to ensure that all accounting operations are conducted in accordance with accounting standards and tax reporting requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management

  • Manage the operations of the Finance & Accounting department.
  • Build an efficient and professional team within the Finance & Accounting Department.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work objectives.
  • Provide excellent leadership, foster teamwork, celebrate top performance, and encourage work/life balance.
  • Cultivate a team culture of open and collaborative relationships and lead by example.
  • Oversee the activities of accounting operations, both Global and Regional.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.

Transactions & Compliance

  • Overseeing the review and approval of significant or unusual transactions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that accounting policies and procedures are being followed correctly and consistently across the organization.
  • Monitoring the use of financial systems and ensuring their accuracy and efficiency.
  • Overseeing the recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Comply with filing requirements imposed by governing authorities.

Reporting

  • Compile and issue accurate financial statements on a timely basis.
  • Measure and report financial and operational performance to management.
  • Prepare various financial analyses for management.
  • Support and liaise with Heads of Group Departments to achieve strategic goals.
  • Proactively seek and identify opportunities to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and improve profits.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual stakeholder reports.
  • Provide information required by internal, external, and regulatory auditors.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective infrastructure for reporting accurate and timely financial results.

Planning

  • Coordinate the creation of Group-wide annual budgets and test their achievability.
  • Calculate and report variances between actual and budgeted results to management.
  • Develop financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
  • Create financial models to evaluate the financial implications of strategic decisions.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess potential financial risks that could impact the company's operations and profitability.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and protect the company's financial interests.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage to protect the company from financial losses.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, CA, or CFA are preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably in the hospitality industry with a global organization.
  • Understanding of the hospitality industry is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Advanced financial analysis and modeling skills, including the ability to prepare financial statements, analyze financial performance, and conduct financial forecasting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, accounting software).
  • Ability to use data analytics tools to analyze financial data and identify trends.
  • Knowledge of accounting regulations and tax laws, both domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team, delegate effectively, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external parties.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex financial issues and problems.
  • Ability to make sound financial decisions based on available information and analysis.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity in all financial matters.
