Senior Design Engineer

Overview Senior Design Engineer/ Manager Electrical Power Systems (EPS). Working location : New Delhi / Bhopal. As an Electrical Design Expert, you will play a crucial role in the successful design and engineering of the Electrical Power Systems (EPS) and equipment for Hydro Power Projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, starting from single-line diagram creation to ensuring compliance with standards and regulations for systems up to 500kV. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate project timelines while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will also lead initiatives aimed at continuously improving processes. Responsibilities Electrical Design and Engineering: Develop single-line diagrams, perform load flow analysis, and conduct short-circuit calculations/studies. Engineering scope: Basic and detailed engineering of Electrical Power Systems for Hydro Power Projects, encompassing Low and Medium-voltage Switchgear, DC Systems, Low and medium-voltage busducts and cabling system, Power and Distribution Transformers (Oil / Dry type), Reactors, Rectifier Transformers and Static Frequency Converters (SFC), Generator Circuit Breakers (GCB), EHV Substations and associated Switchyard equipment, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), EHV XLPE Cabling system, Overhead Transmission lines, Public Address and Communication System, Grounding systems, and Illumination. Equipment sizing: Conduct sizing of CT/VTs, Neutral Grounding Transformers, DG sets, Auxiliary Transformers, Reactors, etc., ensuring alignment with overall technical project requirements. Engineering Excellence: In-depth knowledge of Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) packages. Clarify and communicate design details with customers, address queries, and ensure accurate equipment sizing and selection. Utilize engineering software and sizing tools like ETAP and maintain a "first-time-right" approach. Provide technical support to Procurement and Project Management during negotiations. Customer Focus: Prioritize customer satisfaction and maintain a strong focus on quality. Troubleshooting: Demonstrate creative problem-solving and provide technical solutions to project sites during erection, commissioning, and warranty periods. Cross-functional and Supplier collaboration: Interface with procurement, quality control, erection & commissioning teams, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of engineering activities within defined time limits and to expedite project progress. Continuous Improvement: Work with vendors to develop alternative designs and innovative solutions while adhering to contractual and project requirements. Independent Handling of Design: Take ownership of the design for Electrical systems/sub-systems and equipment within assigned Hydro Power Project packages, ensuring they meet project-specific requirements. Timely Delivery: Prioritize customer needs while ensuring on-time delivery of engineering systems and adherence to design schedules. Adherence to standards and Quality Assurance: Ensure that the design and engineering of packages meet guaranteed and contractual requirements while adhering to relevant industry standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Qualifications Qualification: BE/ BTech in Electrical Engineering. Experience: 12-15 years Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in using engineering software and tools, like ETAP. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Knowledge of national and international standards and regulations.
