Overview The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of printing press equipment to produce high-quality printed materials according to specifications. This includes setup, operation, cleaning, and basic maintenance of assigned presses. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Setup and Operation: Set up and operate assigned printing presses Quality Control: Monitor the printing process to ensure consistent quality, identifying and correcting any defects or inconsistencies. Conduct regular quality checks throughout the run. Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance on assigned equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor. Material Handling: Safely load and unload paper, ink, and other printing materials. Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions, following established procedures. Report more significant problems to the supervisor. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production, including job numbers, quantities printed, and any quality issues encountered. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience operating printing press equipment (specify type if applicable, e.g., sheetfed, web press) is highly desirable. Ability to read and understand job tickets and other production documents. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality. Preferred Qualifications Experience with specific printing press models (list models if applicable). Knowledge of pre-press and post-press processes.
