Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Commission Specialist who is responsible for accurately calculating, processing, and reporting sales commissions for Our World Energy’s sales partners. This role ensures that all commission payments are released on time and in compliance with company policies, while maintaining detailed records of sales transactions, redlines, overrides, chargebacks, and deductions. The Commissions Specialist collaborates closely with Finance, Sales Operations, and Leadership to reconcile data, resolve discrepancies, and provide transparent, error-free reporting. This position plays a critical role in supporting the company’s sales force by ensuring fair and timely compensation and by identifying opportunities to streamline commission processes and reporting.
Work Setup:
- This is an independent contractor role.
- Full remote setup – work from anywhere.

Job Responsibilities:
- Commission Calculation & Processing:
- Accurately calculate and process commissions for sales partners, setters, and closers based on contract terms, redlines, overrides, and special arrangements.
- Manage M1, M2, and other milestone-based commission releases, ensuring proper deductions (e.g., chargebacks, advances).
- Track balances, payments, and pending commissions for each sales partner.
- Reporting & Data Management:
- Prepare and maintain commission-related reports, sales partner pay schedules, and databases using tools such as TAPE, Net Suite, and Google Sheets.
- Provide timely and accurate sales status or commission-related data to management, finance, and sales partners as needed.
- Monitor sales pipeline activity and reconcile commission balances for each project.
- Audit & Compliance:
- Review sales contracts, deal packages, and system records (e.g., SOLO, Aurora) to verify eligibility and prevent overpayments.
- Maintain documentation and support internal audits to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with Finance, Sales Operations, and Leadership teams to address commission discrepancies and secure necessary approvals.
- Respond to sales partner inquiries on payment status, pipeline balances, and commission breakdowns in a timely and professional manner.
- Process Improvement:
- Support the development and implementation of automation tools to streamline commission tracking.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual work, and enhance reporting accuracy.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting, payroll, commissions, or financial analysis (solar or renewable energy industry preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IFERROR, advanced formulas).
- Experience with Net Suite, TAPE , CRM tools, or other financial software.
- High accuracy in data entry, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data.
