Overview Head of Engineering, Helios Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) About Helios Helios is a venture-backed, mission-driven solar start-up committed to making clean energy accessible throughout the Philippines. We are currently focused on solving the residential solar market's biggest challenges and are at a critical inflection point, moving from early-stage growth to establishing a scalable, nationwide presence. We've built an initial team of dedicated professionals and are now focused on professionalizing our operations to meet ambitious growth targets. This role is for a leader who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and build the foundations of a world-class engineering organization from the ground up, with an eye on potential expansion into C&I and utility-scale projects in the future. Role Summary The Head of Engineering will be the single point of ownership for the entire technical and operational fulfillment lifecycle of our residential solar projects. You will be a crucial member of the leadership team, responsible for establishing and scaling our engineering capabilities to support our goal of reaching 100 installations a month and expanding regionally. This role is a blend of strategic planning, process optimization, and hands-on technical execution. Build repeatable install throughput and clear backlog; target ≤14 days from Contract Signed → Install Completed . Ensure OpenSolar pricing/BoQ accuracy ; integrate with HubSpot to keep data latency ≤2 days . Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Process Improvement : Design, implement, and continuously improve the end-to-end engineering and fulfillment processes specifically for residential installations, from initial project design to final installation and after-sales support. This includes defining and implementing best practices for procurement, project management, and site execution. Technical Leadership & Expertise : Serve as the company's leading technical authority on all things residential solar. Guide the team on system design, component selection, and ensuring compliance with the Philippine Electrical Code and net-metering regulations. Weekly capacity planning (crews, tools, transport, inventory) with plan vs actual . Backlog burn-down : clear blockers (permits, bank releases, site readiness) within 48 hours . Build in-house team of instalers - Recruit 5–6 installers , run 2-week trials , promote best performer to Foreman ; stand up certified 3rd-party crews. Ride-alongs/spot checks ; defects closed within 72 hours . OpenSolar governance (standard packages, margin floors, BoQ lock; prevent negative-margin quotes); sync with HubSpot . Quality & Safety Assurance: Establish and enforce rigorous quality control and safety standards for all residential installations. Ensure that all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest technical standard. New Product Development: Collaborate on the development, testing, and implementation of new solar products and services to expand Helios's offerings, including future exploration of C&I and utility-scale solutions. KPI Management: Be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) including the number of successful installations, turnaround time (TAT) for installations and other processes, and after-sales support metrics. KPI Throughput : ≥10 installs/week in ramp; trajectory to 120 installs/month . Backlog Aging : 100% jobs
