Overview

Senior Accountant (Philippines Remote) at Hip eCommerce. This is a remote position open to candidates based in the Philippines. Hip eCommerce operates three flagship marketplaces—HipComic, HipStamp, and HipPostcard—with a fully remote team spanning the United States and the Philippines.

The Senior Accountant serves as a financial leader supporting our eCommerce marketplace and Direct eCommerce operations across multiple channels, business units, and selling formats. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting and Operations, this role drives financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insights for our company, with deep eCommerce expertise and knowledge of US GAAP standards.

Responsibilities
  • eCommerce Revenue Operations: Lead revenue recognition and reconciliation across multiple sales channels and business units, ensuring accurate capture and split of gross vs. net revenue, expenses, etc.
  • Inventory & COGS Management: Oversee complex inventory accounting, including inventory tracking, allocation across business units, and partial COGS reconciliations.
  • Payment Reconciliation: Manage daily reconciliation of payment processors (credit cards, PayPal, etc.), handling settlement timing differences, chargebacks, and multi-department transactions.
  • Multi-Jurisdictional Tax Compliance: Ensure sales tax compliance across all states/countries of operation.
  • Financial Reporting & KPIs: Prepare financial statements and eCommerce-specific metrics, including CAC, LTV, conversion rates, and channel profitability analysis.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement and maintain internal controls aligned with eCommerce operations and internal standards.
  • Systems Integration: Collaborate with the tech team to ensure proper financial data flow between ERP, CRM, marketplace APIs, inventory systems, and financial reporting tools.
Qualifications
  • Professional Credentials: CPA certification with 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • eCommerce Expertise: 2+ years in eCommerce accounting, including marketplace operations, inventory management, multi-channel revenue recognition, and digital payment processing.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with cloud-based ERP systems (QuickBooks preferred); familiarity with eCommerce platforms.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP and sales tax regulations.
  • Growth Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and scale processes as we expand internationally.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and provide strategic financial insights.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with operations, marketing, and technology teams to optimize financial processes.
  • Results-Oriented: Track record of improving financial processes, reducing close timelines, and implementing automation.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Monday–Friday within standard hours of 7am-5pm Eastern Time (with Friday 8am-12pm ET).

Salary: 60,000 to 70,000 PHP per month (depends on experience).
