Your Role

As a Senior Accountant you will:

Financial Reporting

• Preparation of Financial reporting requirements of the business including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow
• Preparation of Management reporting such as Branch and department P&L’s
• Preparation of results presentations
• Consolidated financial reporting to NSHD (Japan) including the Monthly Review Meeting presentation, DIVA packages and other corporate ownership reporting requirements

Accounting

• Ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations and month end accounting processes.
• Lead month-end close processes
• Balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Management of the National Allocations calculations, allocations and reporting
• Lease and outgoings schedules and reconciliations
• Support in producing the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts
• Prepayments, bank Reconciliation, purchase clear accounts, accruals, standing journals. Goods in transit clearing, expense account reviews and reallocations.
• Post and review journal entries
• Coach AP and AR functions to improve coding accuracy and accounting knowledge
• Prepare and review schedules and reconciliations of financial data

Compliance

• Ownership of Australian Tax Office compliance including GST, FBT, IAS, PAYGI
• Support the Annual Tax return
• Support the Annual External Audit
• Support the Internal Audit program
• Support the development of JSOX requirements and reporting capabilities
• Gas reporting compliance with statutory bodies including AICIS, state Gas safety annual fees
• Excise and Customs
• ABS surveys

Cash and Banking

• Daily cashflow management and forecasting
• Coordination of the daily banking and payments
• Credit Card administration
• Banking forms and administration
• Management of the concur credit card processes

Controls and processes

• Development of company standard operating procedures
• Design and development of internal controls
• Ensuring adherence with company policy, controls and procedures
• Review and continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes.

Adhoc

• Any other tasks, responsibilities or adhoc support that is required.
• Ad hoc projects
• Provide financial insights and support across functions as needed

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar field
• A degree in Accountancy is a must
• CPA or CA qualified is a must
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software packages particularly Excel
• Strong technical accounting and reporting skills with exposure in ensuring compliance in a regulatory framework (including GST/VAT style regime)

Preferred Skills

• Strong problem-solving ability - understanding main issues and being able to recommend solutions.
• Proven ability to multitask and prioritise successfully.
• Demonstrate experience in many areas of accounting, accounts payable, payroll and working in a team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in continuous process improvement.
