The Position At Roche/Genentech Pharma Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG), we are determined to transform drug development and realize our Pharma Ambition to deliver 20 transformative medicines addressing diseases with the highest societal burden by 2029. Portfolio Analytics Leader in Product Development Global Clinical Operations (PDG) Analytics & Portfolio Optimization (APO) team will lead a team of analysts, functioning as a strategic thought partner to key stakeholders and a driving force behind Roche/Genentech’s operational planning efforts. This leader will inspire, develop, and manage a team to deliver high-quality analytics, ensuring the optimal performance of our portfolio. As a people leader, the Portfolio Analytics Team Leader will build upon the foundations of the analyst role and take ownership of the team's growth, coordination, and strategic initiatives. This requires a blend of Forecasting, Data Analysis, Advanced Data Analytics, and Product Management capabilities to guide team members in their professional development and contributions to impactful projects. The Portfolio Analytics Team Leader is responsible for providing strategic operational insights with minimal guidance / supervision, leveraging their capabilities in the following areas of expertise: Forecasting: creating time-series and/or patient-based forecasts; conducting uncertainty analyses Data Analysis: identifying trends and patterns in the data; descriptive statistics; qualitative and quantitative insights generation Advanced Data Analytics: designing and delivering advanced quantitative data analyses leveraging large/complex datasets Product Management : end to end delivery of analytical solutions from ideation through implementation, providing strategic partnership to communities across Clinical Operations Strategic Leadership Partner with Area/Country Leaders and analysts, Therapeutic Area Strategic Engagement Partners, Franchise Leads, Study Management & Country Leaders, Study Management Teams, Late Stage Portfolio Committee (LSPC) stakeholders, and Lifecycle Teams to understand business needs, priorities, and strategic scope of work. Set the vision and strategy for integrated insights and analytics, trade‑off analyses, and risk assessment to optimize patient recruitment strategies, country footprint, and clinical site selection for ongoing and planned clinical trials. Team Development Mentor and develop team members in creating time-series and/or patient-based forecasts, conducting uncertainty analyses, and identifying trends and patterns in data. Promote a collaborative environment where individual contributors blend and extend their expertise on different initiatives to further develop their capabilities. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to seek ongoing personal and professional development. Operational Management Oversee the sophisticated application of advanced analytics methods, including predictive modeling, machine learning, and scalable prototypes, to measure study performance and guide portfolio‑level decisions. Ensure the creation and management of tools with up-to-date industry information to build accurate short‑and long‑term forecasts. Stakeholder Engagement Communicate the effects that trial design elements, country and site selection, competitor activities, and new engagement tactics will have on clinical trial recruitment & retention forecasts. Act as a thought partner and advisor to all relevant teams and stakeholders, looking for opportunities for peer mentorship. Advanced Methodologies Lead the application of analytical and statistical methods to answer a variety of business questions using multiple data sources and technical tools/languages. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Collaborate within cross‑functional teams to develop solutions, gain alignment, and deliver impactful business insights; engage necessary stakeholders to enable better decision‑making. Enterprise Alignment Take an enterprise and One PDG mindset, linking individual team responsibilities with broader organizational goals; focus on outcomes that provide the most business value. Demonstrate self‑accountability and integrity. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of enrollment and engagement efforts, projects, and practices, identifying opportunities to optimize the value of investments. Who You Are You have previous work experience preferably within pharmaceutical or biotech industry (commercial or clinical) and/or management consulting, with Bachelors (Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Physical Sciences or related field) You have deep expertise in at least one of the following areas: Patient Insights, Investigator Insights, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Data Analytics, Statistics, Advanced Data Analytics, Resourcing, Information Visualization and/or Data Science You have demonstrated experience translating data into insights and creating compelling narratives. You have experience applying exploratory & confirmatory data analysis techniques that inform business decisions. You have experience with scripting, statistical & programming languages and analytical tools preferred (i.e. Python, R, SQL, Matlab, SAS, Google/Adobe analytics). You have autonomous or semi‑autonomous examination of data or content. You have demonstrated use of sophisticated techniques, tools & languages typically beyond those of traditional data analysis to discover deeper insights, make predictions, or generate recommendations. You have experience acting as a strategic thought partner to teams; entrepreneurial mindset, to transform the way we use data and analytics to enable decisions and hasten our delivery of medicines for our patients. You have a track record of effectively working in a matrix environment with international team members coming from scientific, business and operational backgrounds, using influence without authority. You have expertise in standard analysis and presentation software (Excel, PowerPoint).
