Overview

Senior Digital Cloud & AI Solution Engineer – Innovative Data Platform role at Microsoft . You will help enterprises unlock the full potential of Microsoft’s cloud database and analytics stack across every deployment stage, collaborating with engineering leaders and platform teams to accelerate the Fabric Data Platform, including Cloud & AI Databases and Analytics. This opportunity emphasizes solution design, deployment, and customer success with a focus on modernizing data platforms and realizing the value of Microsoft’s platform.

Responsibilities
  • Drive technical sales with decision makers using demos and PoCs to influence solution design and enable production deployments.
  • Lead hands-on engagements—hackathons and architecture workshops—to accelerate adoption of Microsoft’s cloud platforms.
  • Build trusted relationships with platform leads, co-designing secure, scalable architectures and solutions.
  • Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with engineering to share insights and improve products.
  • Maintain deep proficiency in Analytics Portfolio: Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, DW, real-time intelligence, BI, Copilot), Cloud & AI Databricks, Purview Data Governance and Cloud & AI Databases: SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL.
  • Maintain and grow proficiency in on-prem EDW (Teradata, Netezza, Exadata), Hadoop & BI solutions.
  • Represent Microsoft through thought leadership in cloud Database & Analytics communities and customer forums.
Build Strategy
  • Proactively develops strategic cross-workload and account-level responses by identifying market patterns and providing feedback on industry trends and needs.
  • Builds customer competitive knowledge, documents patterns across solution areas, and shares within the community to drive changes and escalate for competitive selling strategies.
  • Works with local account teams to tailor and drive customer win strategies for local markets; monitors and analyzes proactive action plans to promote usage of Microsoft solutions.
  • Acts as the voice of the customer (VOC) and mentors peers on best practices for internal resource usage; participates in Microsoft operations and cadences to align with customers as needed.
Scale Customer Engagements
  • Identifies and engages with key customer technical and business decision makers, anticipating needs and collaborating with the sales team to drive strategy.
  • Ensures consistency and quality of engagements by adhering to standards and best practices; models sales and delivery methodology for the Microsoft sales organization.
  • Helps identify team resources needed through customer scope validation and maximizes impact of engagements by addressing blockers.
  • Leverages knowledge of programs and investments (e.g., MTC, exec briefing center, partner workshops) and collaborates with engineering, product, and support teams to remediate escalated blockers.
  • Uses customer context and broad technical, domain, cross-solution, and industry knowledge to build credibility and influence technical buy-in.
  • Leads and ensures a broad range of customer needs are met by showcasing Microsoft solutions anchored in insights and business value, establishing rules of engagement for extended teams, and driving alignment with future standards.
Scale Through Partners
  • Scales wins through partner engagement in a sell-with environment; collaborates with pre-sales and partners to drive joint outcomes.
  • Identifies top partners for proactive engagement and provides feedback to partners; aligns with partner leadership on joint goals.
Solution Design and Proof
  • Adapts and extends architecture patterns to accommodate complex customer requirements and drives integration solutions with industry focus.
  • Demonstrates and oversees demonstrations (pre-built demos, ADS, PoC sessions) with partners and pilots; ensures assets align with Microsoft standards.
Technical Leadership
  • Leads group training and events to educate customers, partners, and colleagues on Microsoft solution areas.
  • Identifies cross-platform connections to promote collaborative learning and builds readiness plans; mentors peers.
  • Engages with internal and external tech communities, leads community activities, and shares best practices to raise awareness of Microsoft cloud solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field AND 6+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience with cloud and hybrid or on-prem infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
  • Proficient in Cloud & AI Databases (SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL) from migration & modernization and creating new AI apps.
  • Proficient in Cloud & AI Analytics (Fabric, Databricks, Purview) and knowledge of competitors (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake) in data warehouse, data lake, big data, analytics, real-time intelligence, and reporting with integrated data security & governance.
  • Proven ability to lead technical engagements (hackathons, PoCs, MVPs) that drive production-scale outcomes.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field AND 12+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in data warehouse & big data migration including on-prem appliances (Teradata, Netezza, Oracle), Hadoop (Cloudera, Hortonworks) and Cloud & AI Synapse Gen2.
  • Certification in relevant Microsoft or industry technologies or disciplines (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Administrator, Architecture, Development; Cloud Platform Technologies; Information Security).
