Operational Technology (OT) Engineer - Operations, Sorting Center, SPX Express

SPX Express Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines

Overview

Act as the Philippines Centre Point of Contact between the Philippines engineering team with Regional engineering teams based in Singapore and China for SPX Automatic Sorting Machines (ASM).

Responsibilities
  • Manage the reliability and security of the ASM IT and OT network and systems
  • Own the risk assessment process as well as the respective mitigation and preventive measures
  • System setup and maintenance
  • Set up ASM PCs and servers for basic log rotation and cleanup at high-priority Sorting Centres
  • Support routine OT system health checks, backups, and housekeeping tasks, with assistance from Regional teams - (1) Reg SPX ASM (based in SG); and (2) Reg SRE (based on CN)
  • Tools & Systems Evaluation: assist in testing and comparing remote access tools and network management systems; provide input for selection and deployment of monitoring solutions
  • Network Operations Support: assist in basic configuration and troubleshooting of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls); monitor network performance and escalate issues when required
  • OT Documentation & Knowledge Base: collate and maintain ASM OT documentation including network topology drawings and IP inventories; create and update the SPX Knowledge Base for OT systems of all ASMs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Engineering preferred)
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts; familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, servers, IPCs)
  • Curious and motivated to understand root causes and solve problems; strong sense of ownership with a structured, hands-on approach using methodologies like DMAIC or PDCA
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders (e.g. Corp IT, Reg SPX ASM, SRE, Devs, ASM leads)
  • Exposure to industrial or OT systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA)
  • Basic Linux or Windows Server administration experience
  • Hands-on experience on bare-metal/ virtualization platforms (ESXi, VMware, hyperconverged infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of network monitoring tools (e.g., Netdata, PRTG, Zabbix)
  • Familiarity with basic scripting languages (Python, Bash)
  • Hands-on with automation/configuration management tools (Ansible, SaltStack)
  • Amenable to being assigned in Laguna and Bulacan; amenable to travel
