Position Overview We are seeking an accomplished executive to lead our Fish Brokerage and Cold Storage operations in the Philippines. This role entails oversight of the entire fish trading lifecycle — including vessel partnerships, wet market auctions, cold chain storage, and buyer settlements. The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, pricing strategy, regulatory compliance, and team performance in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Fish Brokerage & Trading Strategy Oversee daily fish brokerage and auction operations at principal ports and landing sites. Manage relationships with vessel owners, brokers, and wet market operators. Supervise fish classification, weighing, pricing, and turnover activities. Monitor local and export market pricing trends to inform sourcing and sales strategies. Expand the seafood buyer base, including exporters, retailers, and institutional clients. Cold Storage & Inventory Oversight Direct cold storage operations to ensure product freshness, inventory turnover, and safety. Integrate auction operations with storage and logistics processes. Monitor inventory KPIs, including spoilage, holding costs, and throughput. Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Ensure full compliance with BFAR, DA, FDA, and LGU permitting requirements. Maintain food safety certifications, auction documentation, and fish traceability systems. Lead audits and inspections associated with fish trading and storage operations. Financial & Business Performance Assume responsibility for the P&L of brokerage and cold storage units. Manage cost controls, margin tracking, pricing models, and settlement processes. Ensure timely remittances to vessel partners, brokers, and market clients. Team Leadership & Organizational Culture Lead cross-functional teams, including fish classifiers, auctioneers, warehouse staff, logistics, and administrative personnel. Foster a professional, ethical, and accountable work culture. Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Maritime Logistics, Business Management, or a related field; MBA is advantageous. Minimum of ten years of executive experience in fish trading, seafood logistics, or cold chain operations. Extensive knowledge of wet market auction systems, fish handling protocols, and vessel-buyer dynamics. Familiarity with cold storage facilities, inventory management, and product movement. Demonstrated experience in BFAR/DA compliance and food safety documentation. Strong leadership, crisis management, and negotiation capabilities. Preferred Profile Comprehensive understanding of the Philippine fish trading landscape (Navotas, General Santos, Zamboanga, etc.). Prior experience with auction houses, port-based sourcing, or seafood distribution. Established network of vessel owners, brokers, and seafood buyers/exporters.
