Position Title: Sr. AccountantPosition Summary

The position of Sr. Accountant is located within our Global Business Services division in Manila at a prime location in the bustling city of Taguig, Philippines. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support for all aspects related to the design, operation, documentation, and validation of financial processes, procedures, and controls. This includes conducting tests of controls related to revenue. The role demands strong analytical and investigative capabilities to ensure the accuracy and completeness of periodic tests, alongside effective communication skills to convey findings, especially when obtaining necessary supporting documentation or communicating essential adjustments.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. Monthly Activities
  • Execution of month-end close activities, preparation of multiple journal entries in QAD and/or SAP P01, posting, and sign-off
  • Conducting month-end closing activities in adherence to the Global Calendar, ensuring timely and accurate completion based on agreed SLA
  • Assisting in preparing monthly financial reports and tax packages
  • Performing bank reconciliations, monitoring, and clearing open items
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Regular updating of Intercompany templates for International entities, including applying netting and issuing cross-charge invoices to other entities
  • Resolving any Intercompany discrepancies promptly
  • Uploading trial balances for specific entities
  • Maintaining Fixed Assets ledgers for additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation runs, and reconciliations
  • Ensuring compliance with SOX, internal controls, and relevant policies and procedures
B. Controls and Compliance
  • Conducting monthly internal controls reviews and documenting as per Abbott's requirements
  • Documenting control procedures and workpapers for Revenue Global Oversight Control
C. Quarterly/ad-hoc Activities
  • Engaging in policy and control environment development to ensure adherence to internal control regulations
  • Identifying areas for process improvement and collaborating to implement action plans
  • Serving as the point of contact for audit requirements and queries; collaborating with external audit personnel for year-end review procedures and statutory audits
  • Preparing or reviewing SOPs based on process changes
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is mandatory
  • 5-8 years of professional finance experience in accounting processes
  • Prior experience in General Ledger operations
  • Proficiency in English and Korean languages for both written and verbal communication
  • Capacity to multitask effectively
  • Experience in Controllership, legal entity management, inventory management, and product costing is advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, motivation, and reliability while being able to work independently
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting skills, and a solid grasp of US-GAAP for day-to-day operations
  • Proven understanding of good internal controls
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Australian processes/regulatory requirements and QAD System is beneficial
  • Exposure to Process Migration initiatives for documentation, standardization, and improvements
