About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Management Professional to join our team. As a key member of our consult business, you will be responsible for assisting and supporting teams in providing cost management services from inception to completion for ongoing and new commissions in various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with feasibility studies, procurement strategies, and contract selection, and produce procurement reports.
  • Aid the application of value management techniques at the outset of a project.
  • Provide estimating and cost planning support in the production of the final cost plan.
  • Involve in the procurement process, ensuring effective performance of all stages, including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation.
  • Support the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds, and licenses, and prepare valuations of work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract.
  • Work with the cost consultant to provide cost control and reporting services during the contract.
  • Analyze and support the preparation of financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.
  • Contribute to identifying all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
  • Assist with the issue of certificates of practical completion and assist with agreement of final accounts.
  • Support the cost consultant on the issue of certificates of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions, and approvals.
  • Provide assistance and support to cost consultants and/or teams in the delivery of cost management services.
  • Develop working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Work with team members to provide operational delivery of team/regional strategy.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to more junior roles.
  • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Requirements:
  • A degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent) or working towards.
  • A good understanding of industry best practice.
  • An understanding of costs and timescales of work undertaken and implications of risk of failure to deliver.
  • Cost planning, budgeting, and estimating experience.
  • An understanding of different types of contract, including the method of measurement.
  • The ability to identify and generate business development opportunities with existing clients.
  • The ability to identify and participate in new initiatives that add value and lead to service improvement.
  • Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • The ability to seek opportunities for implementing improved working practices.
  • Developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills to prepare reports, negotiate, and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract administration and procurement issues within consult.
