Management - Universities (Education & Training)

  • Formulates a definite plan of supervision every semester; develops and maintains teaching procedure, methods and guides; updates curriculum offerings and syllabi preparation, in coordination with the faculty and/or cluster heads.
  • Prepares schedule of classes and Faculty loads. Forwards final schedule of classes to the Registrar before the opening of classes and submits the Faculty loads to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for approval.
  • Conducts periodic meetings with Faculty members during the semester.
  • Enforces regulations on class discipline, attendance and dropping; advises students with failing grades, deficiencies, and refers them to appropriate body for guidance; determines the non re-admittance of students with academic deficiencies and signs student clearance.
  • Evaluates student credentials, approves their subject load, change of subject or schedule, dropping or changing course, etc. during the allotted period.
  • Approves the application of candidates for graduation and recommends prospective candidates; presents the candidates for graduation at the Commencement Exercises, and signs the diplomas of the graduates.
  • Recommends academic honors of graduating class and other students vying for academic honors based on existing policies found in the USPF Student Manual.
  • Processes applications for academic scholarship based on standing regulations found in the USPF Student Manual.
  • Schedules seminars, workshops, etc. for the professional growth both of the Faculty and students; attends meetings and conferences on matters affecting the college.
  • Recommends to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, new faculty members.
  • Recommends to the President in consultation with the VP for Academic Affairs and the HRMD Manager on the promotion, appointment, and separation of Faculty and other Office personnel.
  • Prepares a preliminary budget for the College of Computer Studies and submits it for Budget hearing.
  • Settles promptly, tactfully and effectively students' problems.
  • Signs requisitions for office supplies within budget limit and recommends the purchase of textbooks, library materials, equipment etc. based on budget limit.

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation was founded by men and women who felt the need of establishing an educational institution that would offer relatively high standards of instruction within the reach of the average man in the community.

These men and women were: Agustin Jereza, a Civil Engineer from the State University of Iowa; Virgilio Gonzales, a doctor of medicine from the University of the Philippines; Miguel Sanson, a practicing attorney; Mrs. Natividad Villa – Albino, a school teacher; Felipe Ouano, Fructouso Ramos, and Hipolito Andrada, businessmen; and Dr. Jose Mirasol, a chemist and a former dean of the Cebu Junior College, then the Cebu branch of the University of the Philippines. Dr. Mirasol served as the first director of the school.

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation was first called Southern Institute at the time it was founded in 1927. The institute began by offering a complete elementary course and the first two year of secondary education. In response to public demand, the secondary course was made complete. Classes were held in the a residential house on Colon Street. With the increase in the school population, the school moved to a more spacious location on Mabini Street.
