Position Overview:


Reporting to the SHN Laboratory Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementation and evaluating all strategies used to implement and expand the SHN Patient Blood Management program across the organization.

The successful candidate will be working with the current SHN Patient Blood Management Coordinator to increase the awareness of the SHN Patient Blood Management Program across the entire SHN organization.

Requirements:

  • Current certification in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Registered Nurse
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support Level
  • Current 5-10 years of surgical nursing experience
  • Must have advanced skills in the insertion of peripheral IV′s in adult and pediatric (occasional) patients
  • Strong ability to apply adult teaching strategies to both patients and hospital staff
  • Previous experience with quality improvement projects
  • Previous experience with coaching and mentoring and has demonstrated effectiveness in working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families and SHN staff and the SHN community
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Must have computer experience and familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Recent Health Assessment course
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal development and continuing education with emphasis placed on Patient Blood Management
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work in stressful situations
  • Ability to work well independently, perform the essential duties of the position and exercise sound judgment
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, physicians
  • Must have scheduling flexibility to cover illness/vacation
  • Comfortable in providing in-services/ rounds to the SHN stakeholders
  • Demonstrated values consistent of SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patients/ staff population and community
  • Excellent work performance and attendance
