Job Summary: The Business Analyst in Data Science plays a critical role in understanding and defining business problems, gathering, and analyzing data, and working collaboratively with data scientists to develop data-driven solutions. This position helps organizations make informed decisions by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Requirements Gathering:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including business leaders and subject matter experts, to understand business objectives, challenges, and data-related needs.
  • Translate business requirements into clear and actionable data science project specifications.

Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Identify and gather relevant data from various sources, both internal and external, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can address business challenges or opportunities.

Data Preparation and Cleansing:

  • Prepare and clean data for analysis, including data transformation, data cleansing, and feature engineering.
  • Ensure data is in a suitable format for data science modeling and analysis.

Collaboration with Data Scientists:

  • Work closely with data scientists to define project objectives, scope, and success criteria.
  • Provide data context and domain knowledge to data science teams to inform modelling and analysis.

Model Evaluation and Validation:

  • Assist in evaluating and validating data science models, ensuring they align with business requirements and goals.
  • Perform model testing and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Create clear and visually appealing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present findings and recommendations to business leaders and decision-makers.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience in business analysis, data analysis, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, machine learning, and statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Project management skills to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is beneficial.
