We follow a hybrid remote and in-office set up, follow Philippines Holidays, and primarily work on a day shift schedule unless required to work on other shifts due to businesses supported and projects.

ROLE GENERAL INFORMATION

The General Accounting Senior Team Lead (GA STL) is primarily responsible in leading and managing effectively and efficiently day to day operations of General Accounting Team. The GA STL ensures that team, his/her own goals, and goals of four team members are met, rolling up to overall business' goals and objectives. He/she ensures that all performance measures areadhered to, accuracy is paramount and that routine and ad-hoc tasks are undertaken in line with agreed timetables. The GA STL will give support to external and internal audit inquiries and will also be leading projects and process improvement initiatives. This position is part of Finance & Accounting of Manila Business Shared Services and will report directly to Senior Manager of Finance and Accounting.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The GA Senior Team Lead is primarily responsible on record to report value stream of assigned line of business and legal entities in APAC region which includes the following but not limited to:

  • Month End Closing: Complete monthly closing of books; review and approve journal entries in accordance with month end timetable
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Analyze financial results thru different management reports, control checks and apply first level of control to ensure accuracy and completeness of month end closing. Provide relevant analysis on account's flux and trend.
  • Intercompany Accounting: Liaise with the GA Specialist for the intercompany entries, monthly reports and help in resolving intercompany out of balances.
  • Balance Sheet Accounts Reconciliation: Review monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation, discuss risks and opportunities by analyzing aged and outstanding items.
  • Statutory and Compliance: Assist on external and internal audits by providing relevant information to auditors. Evaluate internal controls for all key processes; Test the current operations and recommend/ redesign existing process and financial controls.
  • Stakeholder Management: Determine and assess stakeholder's requirements, ensuring that these are met. Build and sustain good working relationship within APAC Finance and other functions.
  • Knowledge management: Create and help maintain work instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of in-scope processes, ensuring compliance in ISO standards.
  • Process Improvement: Have an innovative mindset, challenging status quo, think outside the box to optimize overall operations. Apply 80:20 rule and support all process improvements implementations.
  • Project Management: Lead and be part of different projects impacting APAC wide and Manila Business Services.
  • People Management: Assess performance, create opportunities, guide team member/s on their career aspirations and growth.
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting framework, including application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Ability to communicate well in accounting jargons with clients, auditors, managers, and colleagues within the organization effectively and assertively
  • Excellent in critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and service delivery skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and ability to interact with employees and stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to learn continuously such as emerging industry standards, tools, and applications.
  • Ability to provide expert advice on financials, internal controls assessments, risks, and audit exposures.
  • Maintain objectivity and ensure guarding of financial information and confidential data
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram
  • Knowledgeable in using Microsoft 365 applications and ERP systems
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, VBA macro and power BI is a plus

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • University Degree in Accountancy, Certified Public Accountant is a must.
  • With minimum 5 years leadership experience, handling General Accounting team in a shared service or BPO set up
  • Minimum 10 years solid experience in month end closing, management reporting, tax and audit
  • Solid knowledge of Accounting, Corporate Finance, Financial Software
  • Strong background and application on Accounting and ERP systems
  • Process-oriented, critical thinker, and results focused.
