Stylistic Range: Proficient in multiple distinct styles, including:

  • Realistic/Photorealistic: The ability to capture accurate likenesses, textures, and lighting for subjects ranging from corporate portraits to detailed product illustrations.
  • Whimsical/Fantasy: The skill to create imaginative, playful, and often stylized worlds and characters, perfect for children's books, games, or brand mascots.
  • Vector/Flat Design: Expertise in creating clean, scalable vector graphics suitable for corporate infographics, websites, and app icons

Adaptability: A proven ability to quickly learn and master new techniques or emulate a specific style from a reference, ensuring consistency across a project.

Conceptual Thinking: The capacity to take a concept, regardless of its style requirements, and translate it into a compelling and effective visual solution. They are not just a hand for drawing but a partner in creative problem-solving.

Technical Proficiency: A master of industry-standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). This versatility in tools allows for seamless execution of any style.

While creativity is key, the illustrator must also have the technical skills to bring their ideas to life.

Medium Proficiency: Expertise in a chosen medium, whether it's traditional (watercolor, ink, collage) or digital (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).

Art Fundamentals: A strong grasp of core art principles, including color theory, composition, perspective, lighting, and anatomy. These fundamentals are essential for creating professional and visually appealing work.

Consistency: The ability to maintain a consistent style and quality across multiple pages and illustrations within a single book. This ensures a cohesive visual experience for the reader.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to small details, from the texture of a character's clothing to the background elements, which can enrich the story and engage the reader.

Typography and Layout: A basic understanding of how illustrations will interact with text. This includes leaving space for the words and ensuring that the layout is clean and easy to read.
