Business Development Manager – Site Acquisition & Store Development

A leading retail organization is seeking a senior-level Business Development Manager to lead site acquisition and store development initiatives nationwide. The role focuses on identifying strategic mall locations and overseeing design and engineering coordination to support store expansion and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of mall-based retail locations nationwide.
  • Assess site feasibility based on market potential, foot traffic, technical requirements, and commercial viability.
  • Oversee and coordinate with internal design and engineering teams to ensure store layouts, utilities, and technical standards are met.
  • Manage end-to-end site acquisition and store development processes, from location sourcing and lease negotiation to site turnover.
  • Negotiate commercial and technical lease terms with mall operators, property developers, and lessors.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, site proposals, and investment recommendations for management approval.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, Marketing, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure timely and compliant store openings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, brokers, and leasing partners.
  • Monitor competitor activity, mall developments, and market trends to support strategic expansion planning.
  • Ensure all site acquisition and development activities comply with internal policies, engineering standards, and legal requirements.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on expansion progress and opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business Management, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in site acquisition, retail expansion, store development, or property development, preferably in mall-based retail.
  • Proven experience in lease negotiation and site feasibility evaluation.
  • Strong background in managing or coordinating design and engineering teams.
  • Solid understanding of retail construction requirements, utilities, layouts, and mall coordination processes.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide as required for site assessments and negotiations.
