About the Role

You'll spearhead a green‑field Go service that removes CPU‑heavy XML parsing from the mainframe. The component will validate messages against XSDs, enforce rate limits, return meaningful errors, and dispatch valid calls to CICS via CTG. Speed to production is critical: first release in 4–8 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and code a concurrent Go service handling XML‑over‑HTTP at scale (thousands TPS).
  • Implement XSD‑based validation and extra business‑rule checks; surface precise error payloads.
  • Introduce token‑bucket or leaky‑bucket rate limiting; plan for future caching (Redis or Memcached).
  • Integrate with CICS Transaction Gateway for request dispatch; collaborate with COBOL engineers to mirror existing logic.
  • Write exhaustive unit, integration, and load tests (Go test, k6, Vegeta).
  • Automate build and deployment via Git, Jenkins, Docker, and optional Kubernetes or ECS.
  • Instrument the service with Prometheus exporters and structured logging for Grafana dashboards.
  • Document architecture, code conventions, and onboarding guides for hand‑off.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 + years building production APIs in Go; strong grasp of goroutines, channels, and memory profiling.
  • Demonstrated XML/XSD parsing and validation experience.
  • High‑throughput, low‑latency HTTP server design; familiarity with rate‑limiting middleware.
  • Experience integrating with mainframe back‑ends (CICS, CTG, MQ) or other legacy systems.
  • CI/CD fluency in Git, Jenkins, Docker; test‑driven mindset.
  • Clear English communication; able to sync daily on a US‑aligned mid‑shift.
