Re-Use Technician

I. JOB SUMMARY

Re-Use Technician is primarily responsible for the cleaning and sterilizing the dialyzer following infection control standards as well as institutional policies and procedures. He is responsible in the delivery of quality and cost-effective technical services to promote and ensure patient safety.

II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Consistently implements the Vision-Mission, Core Values and Quality Policy.

· Refers to policy and procedural manuals to verify and confirm rules and regulations during the establishment of work or treatment plans.

· Reads protocols addressing treatment plans or assessment procedures to assist relevant patient queries when evaluating their medical conditions. Such protocols require specialized medical knowledge to understand and apply content.

· Prepares dialyzers and dialysis bath according to formula.

· Prepares, rinses, disinfects dialysis machine prior to treatment.

· Collects all used dialyzers in the dialysis area in accordance with techniques in prevention and control of spillage and contamination. Documents the same accurately, legible and thoroughly.

· Releases all new and reprocessed dialyzers to the staff nurses/ in the dialysis area in accordance with techniques in the prevention and control of spillage and contamination. Documents the same accurately, legible and thoroughly.

· Performs reprocessing of using dialyzers. Documents the same accurately, legible and thoroughly.

· Assesses reprocessed dialyzers for acceptability.

· Labels all new and used dialyzers properly including patient's full name, date purchased and re-use number.

· Records dialyzer's re-use number in HD flow sheets.

· Discards reprocessed dialyzers based on assessment for acceptability and standard maximum use as mandated by company policy. Documents the same accurately, legibly and thoroughly.

· Stores reprocessed dialyzers in an orderly manner.

· Enforces company set policies and performs tasks as may be delegated from time to time.

· Remains in post in the Re-Use room during duty hours. Endorses to a co-employee in cases of noon or coffee breaks in between shifts.

· Refers promptly to Chief Biomedical Technician in cases of difficult situations or any unusual occurrences encountered during the entire shift duration.

· Adheres to infection control standards as well as health crisis and emergency disaster management/fire safety standards and protocols.

· Assists patients in moving, weighing with assistance from other nurses using proper body mechanisms to decrease risk of injuries.

· Performs disinfection of loop, raw tanks and bicarbonate containers as scheduled.

· Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the Re-use room.

· Evaluates re-use equipment and R.O water system for correct functioning and logs results accordingly. Specialized knowledge is requisite to apply this medical information.

· Follows instructions on the flowcharts depicting protocols and makes decision based on the processes described in charts.

· May adjust daily schedules to accommodate unforeseen special circumstances such as participates in clinical researches and studies whenever needed.

· Participates in clinical researches and studies whenever needed.

· May extend work hours as overtime depending on the staff exigencies.

· Performs new work as may be assigned by the Chief Biomedical Technician, Head Nurse Manager or Medical Director in coordination with the Administration.

· Cleaning and disinfecting bloodlines after using by Patient.

· Listing and Records TCV's (Total Cell Volume of Dialyzers).

· Mixing and preparing bicarbonate acid to 3 stations. (3 Shifts) morning to afternoon 10 liters per gallon in 67 machines.

· Collecting blood buckets and cleaning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php10, Php15,000.00 per month
