Job Brief

Mayan Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Junior Software QA Engineer with deep expertise in automated testing to ensure the quality and reliability of our web applications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, and has a background in automation testing (Playwright). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver software that works flawlessly across browsers and devices. Familiarity with tools like Playwright and TestRail is a plus. And as part of our QA team, you will contribute to delivering high-quality software through careful testing, defect reporting, and collaboration across teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret business and technical requirements to design effective test cases.
  • Organize and maintain test cases and reports
  • Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end automated test scripts using Playwright.
  • Own the quality assurance process for assigned projects—from test strategy to test execution and reporting.
  • Define and manage test plans, test suites, and test cases within TestRail.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and UI/UX designers to understand requirements and provide feedback early in the development cycle.
  • Ensure high test coverage across critical user journeys, APIs, and browser/device combinations.
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear steps to reproduce and expected outcomes.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives with a quality-first mindset.

Day-to-day Activities

  • Write, execute, and maintain Playwright test scripts for web applications.
  • Create and manage structured test cases linked to business requirements.
  • Test APIs using tools like Postman.
  • Configure automated test runs in GitHub Actions or similar CI tools.
  • Log high-quality bug reports and verify fixes across environments.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and daily syncs with developers and PMs.
  • Provide test coverage metrics, bug reports, and risk assessments.
  • Recommend improvements to QA workflows, tooling, and documentation.

Requirements and Skills

  • Technical Expertise:
  • 0-2 years in software QA, with background on automation testing.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining Playwright test suites.
  • Proficient in using TestRail to organize and report on test cases.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for test scripting; experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automation Tools & CI/CD:
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for test scripting; experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
  • API testing using tools like Postman or REST-assured
  • Bonus Skills:
  • Performance or load testing exposure
  • Experience testing mobile or responsive web applications
  • Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
