Job Brief

Mayan Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Software QA Engineer with deep expertise in automated testing to ensure the quality and reliability of our web applications. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about test automation, loves building scalable testing frameworks, and has hands-on experience with Playwright and TestRail. You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining robust automated test suites, driving quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver software that works flawlessly across browsers and devices. As a member of our QA team, you will help define test strategies, mentor junior engineers, and integrate testing into our CI/CD workflows.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust end-to-end automated test scripts using Playwright.
  • Own the quality assurance process for assigned projects—from test strategy to test execution and reporting.
  • Define and manage test plans, test suites, and test cases within TestRail.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and UI/UX designers to understand requirements and provide feedback early in the development cycle.
  • Ensure high test coverage across critical user journeys, APIs, and browser/device combinations.
  • Identify, document, and track defects with clear steps to reproduce and expected outcomes.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives with a quality-first mindset.

Day-to-day Activities

  • Write, execute, and maintain Playwright test scripts for web applications.
  • Create and manage structured test cases in TestRail linked to business requirements.
  • Configure automated test runs in GitHub Actions or similar CI tools.
  • Log high-quality bug reports and verify fixes across environments.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and daily syncs with developers and PMs.
  • Provide test coverage metrics, bug reports, and risk assessments.
  • Recommend improvements to QA workflows, tooling, and documentation.

Requirements and Skills

  • Technical Expertise:
  • ≥2 years in software QA, with at least 1 year focused on automated testing.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining Playwright test suites.
  • Proficient in using TestRail to organize and report on test cases.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for test scripting; experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automation Tools & CI/CD:
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript for test scripting; experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Bonus Skills:
  • API testing using tools like Postman or REST-assured
  • Performance or load testing exposure
  • Experience testing mobile or responsive web applications
  • Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
