The Collections Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the collections team, ensuring timely and effective recovery of outstanding debts. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, as well as a deep understanding of collections processes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management:

    • Recruit, hire, train, and develop collections team members.

    • Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure team efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to team members.

    • Address performance issues and disciplinary actions as needed.

  • Collections Process Oversight:

    • Develop and implement effective collections strategies and procedures.

    • Monitor and analyze collections performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant collection laws and regulations.

    • Review and approve collection plans for individual accounts.

    • Supervise the use of collection systems and tools.

  • Debt Recovery:

    • Work closely with debtors to negotiate payment plans and resolve disputes.

    • Escalate difficult cases to management as necessary.

    • Monitor aging accounts and take appropriate action to recover outstanding debts.

  • Reporting and Analysis:

    • Prepare regular reports on collections activity, performance, and trends.

    • Analyze data to identify root causes of delinquent accounts and implement corrective measures.

  • Customer Service:

    • Ensure that the collections team provides excellent customer service to debtors.

    • Handle customer complaints and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in collections, preferably in a supervisory role.

  • Strong understanding of collection laws and regulations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using collection software and systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
