Job Summary:

The Hospital Maintenance Staff is responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of our hospital's physical infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. The primary goal is to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires a diverse skill set, encompassing electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and general carpentry. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong commitment to safety and a positive, customer-service oriented attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

● Preventative Maintenance:

○ Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all hospital systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and all other equipment.

○ Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.

○ Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including dates, repairs, and parts used.

● Repairs and Troubleshooting:

○ Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues related to plumbing, electrical circuits, and HVAC systems.

○ Repair or replace faulty equipment, fixtures, and appliances.

○ Perform basic carpentry tasks, such as repairing doors, walls, and furniture.

○ Address emergency maintenance situations as they arise, often outside of normal business hours.

● Electrical and Plumbing:

○ Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including lighting, power outlets, and minor circuit issues.

○ Perform plumbing tasks, such as repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing faucets and other plumbing fixtures.

● Safety and Compliance:

○ Adhere to all hospital safety policies, including infection control and hazard communication standards.

○ Ensure all maintenance work complies with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.

○ Participate in safety drills and training sessions.

○ Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials.

● General Duties:

○ Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events or room changes.

○ Perform basic grounds maintenance..

○ Communicate effectively with hospital staff to coordinate work and minimize disruption to patient care.

○ Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Qualifications:

● Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or trade school certification in a relevant field (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) is a significant plus.

● Experience:

○ Proven experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a hospital, healthcare, or similar institutional setting for _ year/s.

○ Strong knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

○ Hands-on experience with a variety of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC.

● Skills:

○ Proficient in the use of maintenance tools and equipment.

○ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

○ Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

○ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

○ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

○ Physical dexterity and ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
