Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation & Process Execution 

  • Operate polishing, greening, and precision fabrication equipment according to work instructions and production schedules. 
  • Monitor machine parameters, tool conditions, and material properties to ensure optimal performance. 
  • Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain quality and efficiency. 
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and notify maintenance teams of any malfunctions. 

2. Quality Assurance & Inspection 

  • Perform in-process quality checks to ensure lenses meet specifications and tolerances. 
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and optical measurement tools to verify product quality. 
  • Identify and report defects, irregularities, or process deviations to supervisors. 
  • Follow ISO 9001 and ITAR quality standards to maintain consistency in production. 

3. Equipment Maintenance & Safety Compliance 

  • Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance on machines to prevent breakdowns. 
  • Follow safety protocols and PPE requirements when handling chemical solutions and optical materials. 
  • Participate in workplace safety programs and hazard identification. 
  • Properly handle and dispose of waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations. 

4. Production Reporting & Process Improvement 

  • Accurately record production data, machine performance, and material usage. 
  • Suggest improvements to enhance machine efficiency and reduce downtime. 
  • Work closely with the Production Supervisor and Quality teams to resolve any process-related issues. 
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices. 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or technical certification in Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology, or a related field. 
  • 1+ years of experience operating precision manufacturing machines (optical fabrication experience is a plus). 
  • Familiarity with polishing and greening processes in optical manufacturing. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. 
  • Basic knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and production tracking tools. 
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-precision production environment. 
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in optical manufacturing, semiconductor, or aerospace industries. 
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and process automation. 
  • Ability to handle multiple machine operations simultaneously. 

Work Environment: 

  • Manufacturing floor-based role with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and precision tools. 
  • Requires standing, lifting, and operating machines for extended periods. 
  • May involve shift work, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.
