The Mechanical Technician handles operation of feedmill and/or dressing plant machineries, all mechanical equipment, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of mechanical equipment and machineries.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages feedmill machinery operation and all mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance activities on Batchweigher, Hammermill, Mixer, Conditioner, Pellet mill, Cooler, Aspiration System, Conveyors, Elevators, Steam Boiler, Compressor, Pneumatic parts, and all production machines.

  2. Ensures adherence to standard operation manuals and engineering specifications.

  3. Ensures compliance to repair and preventive maintenance of all feed mill equipment.

  4. Handles maintenance and safekeeping of consumable parts, supplies and inventories.

  5. Checks stock to determine inventory level and anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies.

  6. Handles placing and expedition of request for equipment, consumable parts, supplies, and inventory.

  7. Handles fabrication and assembling of needed parts that will be used in feed milling operation.

  8. Does adjustments or repair of functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools or power tools.

  9. Performs machine shop and works on operating various machines such as drill presses, grinders, stick welders, plasma torches, cutting equipment (chop saw), pneumatic tools and electric/manual hand tools.

  10. Performs welding fabrication for both stick and gas in various locations and positions including pipe and structural on various metals for new and existing equipment.

  11. Identifies, troubleshoots, and repairs the mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and simple electrical problems of plant facilities and production equipment.

  12. Inspects equipment and machinery for mechanical soundness and make required and necessary repairs.

  13. Performs hammer mill and screen replacement and sharpening of pellet mill cutter.

  14. Handles cleaning of motor and motor control centre, and lubrication motor bearings.

  15. Does troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical functions and breakdowns.

  16. Ensures compliance with all company procedures, rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean working environment.

  17. Complies with safety hazard protocol by using complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  18. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  19. Maybe assigned any other job as prescribed by the Immediate Superior.
