Position Overview

The O&M Engineer for Solar PV is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of solar power plants & systems. This role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and implementation of improvements to maximize energy yield and minimize downtime.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Monitoring

  • Monitor daily performance of solar PV systems using SCADA and monitoring platforms.
  • Analyze plant performance against expected yield and identify deviations.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, and annual performance reports.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections of PV modules, inverters, transformers, combiner boxes, switchgear, and other balance-of-system equipment.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns.
  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.

3. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Implement lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) and safety protocols during maintenance activities.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety audits.

4. Technical Support & Documentation

  • Provide technical expertise for repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and spare parts inventory.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend engineering solutions to improve plant performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Keep updated with solar industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 2–5 years in solar PV operations, maintenance, or power plant operations (utility or commercial).
  • Certifications (preferred): PRC Licensed Engineer

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of PV system design, inverters, switchgear, and protection systems.

  • Proficiency in monitoring platforms and data analytics tools.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Soft Skills: Problem-solving, teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
