Customer Solutions Engineer – Planning and Costing Support

JOB SUMMARY

ABS is seeking a detail-oriented Customer Solutions Engineer with a solid background in satellite teleport services and ground equipment and a good understanding of satellite communications and link budget analysis. The ideal candidate will play a key role in teleport services, building satellite connectivity solutions, including the ground segment, combining hands-on technical expertise in teleport operations and service delivery with the ability to manage technical scopes, resource estimations, and cost planning for satellite-related service projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Engineering & Planning:

• Design and plan satellite-related managed services and infrastructure projects (e.g., uplink & downlink services, antenna installations and utilizations, RF chain upgrades, IF/baseband integrations).
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (ground support engineering, project management, sales, and vendors) to ensure technical deliverables are aligned with customer expectations and deadlines.
• Support the preparation of technical proposals and method-of-procedure (MoP) documents.
• Coordinate and support customers throughout site readiness, link testing, and final commissioning of satellite services.

Costing & Budget Support:

• Prepare cost models and engineering estimates for teleport and managed services projects, including CAPEX/OPEX elements (equipment, manpower, spares, etc.).
• Collaborate with commercial and pre-sales teams to define service pricing and ensure profitability of service offerings.
• Track and report actual vs. budgeted costs across project milestones; suggest optimizations or adjustments when needed.

Solutions Engineering & Analysis:

• Interpret link budget analysis to design and size satellite-related services.
• Run basic link budgets and learn from the experience gained to create more complex analyses.
• Engage with customers to develop tailored technical solutions that meet or exceed their requirements.
• Develop teamwork by cultivating strong relationships with the CSE team, proactively sharing knowledge, exchanging valuable insights, and providing support to ensure collective success.

Vendor & Customer Interface:

• Work with equipment suppliers and third-party contractors for installation projects and maintenance services.
• Participate in technical meetings with customers, supporting project kickoffs and service readiness reviews.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in teleports, satellite ground systems, or RF/network engineering.
• Proven experience supporting engineering costing, proposals, or technical sales documentation is a strong advantage.
• Fluent in English – additional language skills are a plus.

Technical Skills:

• Solid understanding of RF, IF, and baseband equipment (e.g., up/down converters, HPAs, LNAs, VSAT platforms, modems, routers).
• Experience in satellite communications, its technologies, topologies and applications.
• Familiar with satellite network design tools and link budget concepts.
• Proficiency in project estimation tools (e.g., Excel, cost breakdown templates).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with satellite service projects in GEO/MEO/LEO networks.
• Understanding of ground segment integration for data and video services.
• Proficient in VSAT platforms and modem technologies such as iDirect, Newtec, Comtech & UHP, Gilat, HNS, and Novelsat.

Work Environment:

• Split between teleport site and office environment.
• Occasional travel to remote sites, customer locations, or vendor facilities.
