What you'll be doing

  • Lead and mentor a team of talented data engineers to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines, data warehouses, and reporting systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions

  • Implement and optimize data processing and analytics tools, ensuring data integrity, security, and scalability

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field and drive the adoption of best practices

  • Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and processes to ensure the reliability and sustainability of data systems

  • Provide strategic guidance and technical leadership to the organisation on data-driven initiatives

  • Mentor and develop the data engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in database development and administration

  • Proficient in SQL, data modelling, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes

  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team

  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
