Provide the Nursing Unit with administrative and technical support in giving quality patient care by assisting the nurses and other medical staff in performing nursing and clinical procedures as necessary.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  1. Ensures orderliness and cleanliness of the area and coordinates with Housekeeping matters for the

comfort of patients and associates.

  1. Receives and relays messages accurately and in a timely manner to parties concerned to facilitate

flow of information.

  1. Answers inquiries courteously and accurately if within his/her responsibilities or refers them to

concerned parties to ensure accurate and proper dissemination of information.

  1. Maintains harmonious relationship with patient / relatives.

  2. Observes patient confidentiality at all times.

  3. Performs other assigned tasks relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

TECHNICAL

  1. Brings urine, stool, sputum and other specimens to the laboratory. Ensures that specimens are delivered on time with the correct labeling and patient's name.

  2. Brings approved requisition to Central Sterile Supply, Central Stores, Purchasing Department and Pharmacy for retrieval back to unit with proper endorsement to the NUM/ANUM/CN.

  3. Prepares bed for admission ensuring clean, stain free, and torn free linen.

  4. Replaces the patient's linens every day and as necessary.

  5. Ensures supply of drinking water in the unit and replenishes when necessary.

  6. Performs nursing procedures as directed by the NUM/ANUM/CN and nurses like providing bed bath, enema, shaving of patients for surgery and giving shampoo in bed.

  7. Gives sponge bath to assigned patients.

  8. Daily care of dressing cart /supplies- see that jars are complete and there are enough supplies for the day.

  9. For all discharged room, the Nursing Aide assists housekeepers in cleaning the room of all discharged patients by removing equipment and supplies used. I.e. suction machine, drainage bottles, etc. Airs mattresses and pillows. Set the room complete after adequate airing. Equipment which does not belong to the room must be returned to the proper places. Nursing aide provides clean linen to housekeeping to make new bed.

  10. Maintains cleanliness and tidiness of the nursing stations, facilities and adjacent lobby. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the medication area, including care and cleaning of equipment.

  11. Maintains rooms and corridors free of clutter and spills; cleanliness and orderliness of areas (nurse station, lounges, waiting areas, rest rooms and hallway); cleaning the refrigerator; inventory and utilization, curtains and other linen supplies, etc.

  12. Responsible for endorsing defective instrument/equipment to the unit managers/nurse in charge and bringing them to Central Sterile Supply or Biomedical and Safety Department.

  13. Acts and performs within the institution's ethico-moral standard such as display of respectful relationships with supervisors, co-workers and inter-departmental staff; accepts responsibility for own actions and delivery of task related duties; accepts constructive criticism from immediate supervisors and take corrective action.

  14. Perform other duties and responsibilities or task as assigned by unit manager.
