The Head of Department Store is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, performance, and growth of a Waltermart branch. This role ensures that the store delivers excellent customer service, achieves sales and profitability targets, and upholds Waltermart's brand standards. The position requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to manage large teams while driving business results.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
Manage day-to-day store operations across all departments to ensure smooth and efficient performance.
- Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain operational excellence.
- Oversee inventory management, merchandising, and stock replenishment to maximize sales opportunities.
Sales & Profitability
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Analyze store performance metrics and implement initiatives to drive growth.
- Optimize cost control measures to ensure operational efficiency.
Customer Experience
Ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently delivered.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Foster a customer-first culture among store employees.
People Management
Lead, coach, and develop department managers and staff to enhance performance and engagement.
- Oversee workforce planning, scheduling, and manpower allocation.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide guidance for career growth.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with company policies, labor regulations, and government requirements.
- Implement and monitor safety protocols to maintain a secure shopping environment.
- Uphold store standards in cleanliness, security, and health protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
- At least 8–10 years of progressive experience in retail operations, with 3–5 years in a leadership role managing large teams.
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, and customer service best practices.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
