This is a remote position.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM PST
Total Weekly Hours: 30 Hours

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Assistant to support their growing practice. This role involves managing day-to-day medical billing and insurance tasks, ensuring accurate patient records, and maintaining clear communication with both medical offices and insurance companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming faxes.

  • Fax medical records to physician offices or medical request companies.

  • Obtain authorizations and pre-approvals from insurance providers (primarily HMO, minimal PPO).

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.

  • Submit claims to insurance companies accurately and on time.

  • Follow up and appeal unpaid or denied claims.

  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues and discrepancies.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter data into the EMR system.

Requirements:

  • Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or a similar healthcare administrative role.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with EMR systems is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies and healthcare providers.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Language skills: Spanish or Mandarin proficiency is a plus, but not required.
