Mainframe Administrator
About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Mainframe Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level mainframe systems that power business-critical applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in IBM Z systems and a proactive approach to performance tuning, security, and automation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of mainframe infrastructure (z/OS, JES2/JES3, TSO/ISPF, RACF, etc.)
  • Install, configure, and upgrade mainframe system software and related tools
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply preventive maintenance
  • Manage user access, security configurations, and compliance controls
  • Implement storage management, job scheduling, and batch processing
  • Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments and system changes
  • Perform system backups, DR testing, and ensure high availability across environments
  • Prepare documentation for system changes, upgrades, and operational procedures
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe administration (IBM z/OS environment)
  • Solid experience with RACF, JCL, TSO/ISPF, JES2/JES3, SMP/E, VTAM, TCP/IP
  • Strong knowledge of storage management (DFSMS, DASD, Tape) and performance monitoring tools (RMF, OMEGAMON, CA-SYSVIEW, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with system tuning, IPL, maintenance, and patch management
  • Experience in problem management, incident resolution, and root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
Good-to-Have
  • Experience with Mainframe modernization or migration projects
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Rexx, CLIST, JCL scripting)
  • Knowledge of z/VM, CICS, or DB2 systems administration
  • ITIL or IBM mainframe certifications
