Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our growing real estate company. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially as they relate to real estate development, investments, and property management. The candidate must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and have a strong background in financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process with external auditors.

  • Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

  • Support acquisition, development, and divestiture financial modeling and due diligence.

  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to support company growth.

  • Collaborate with operations, legal, and asset management teams on financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA a plus.

  • CPA designation required.

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Prior experience in real estate development, investment, or property management strongly preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and real estate finance.

  • Proficient in financial software systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar).

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
