JOB SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Assistant provides support to licensed pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and supplies. The role ensures that pharmacy operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Possession of an NC III certification ensures competency in handling pharmaceutical processes and assisting in both hospital and community pharmacy settings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist pharmacists in receiving, preparing, packaging, and dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • Verify prescription details and ensure completeness and accuracy before processing.
  • Maintain and update inventory of medicines, supplies, and medical consumables; monitor stock levels and expiration dates.
  • Prepare requisition forms and assist in ordering stocks as approved by the Pharmacist.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of medications according to standard pharmacy procedures.
  • Provide courteous customer service by addressing patient inquiries and referring clinical concerns to the Pharmacist.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
  • Perform clerical duties such as encoding, filing prescriptions, and updating patient medication records.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH, FDA, and institutional policies on drug handling and dispensing.
  • Assist in compounding or reconstitution of medicines under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Support in the preparation of daily sales reports, inventory audits, and other pharmacy documentation.
  • Observe confidentiality, safety protocols, and professional ethics at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a Pharmacy Services NC III certificate from TESDA.
  • Preferably a graduate of BS in Pharmacy or related allied health course.
  • At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in a pharmacy or hospital setting (advantageous but not required).
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacology, drug classifications, and dispensing procedures.
  • Proficient in inventory management and basic computer applications.
  • Good communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Able to work under supervision and follow standard operating procedures.
