The Manila Waldorf School, Inc. (MWSI) is the pioneer school of Waldorf or Steiner education in the Philippines. Its pedagogy is based on the teachings of Austrian philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner on the development stages of childhood and adolescence. From the first school in Stuttgart, Germany in 1920, there are now over 800 Waldorf schools and 1,000 Waldorf kindergartens in 50 countries on 6 continents. MWS was founded in the Philippines in 1994 and was the first Waldorf school in Southeast Asia to offer a full kindergarten-Grade 12 Steiner program. The Manila Waldorf School is DepEd K-12 compliant.

MWSI currently has the following open full-time teaching positions:

  • Elementary/Junior High School (Grade 1-8) Class Teacher

  • High School Math Teacher

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a trained and experienced teacher (preferably Waldorf-trained but not required). Creative and enthusiastic, they enjoy working with a team of colleagues. They seek a school with a strong vision, energetic colleagues, and clear leadership. They are able to solve problems with discernment while maintaining confidentiality of student, familial, and organizational information.

Initiative, dependability, willingness to learn, and a strong inclination for collaboration are key attributes to the success of the candidate.

One year experience of teaching though can be considered.

Requirements

  1. Applicant must be open to study Rudolf Steiner's philosophy, Anthroposophy, as applied in the field of education.

  2. Must have the ability to plan and deliver diverse curriculum, is organized, dependable and punctual, and is able to work collaboratively.

  3. Candidate must have a Bachelor's/College Degree and a professional teaching license (has passed the Licensure Exam for Teachers or LET).

  4. Preferably has 1-4 years of experience in Education (or equivalent).

  5. Applicants must be willing to work in Timberland Heights, San Mateo, Rizal (free lunch and school transport is provided).

Specifically for elementary school teacher, s/he must be generalist, thus could teach all subjects. Preferably, s/he knows how to sing, draw, paint and play or willing to learn how to play a recorder.

For Filipino subject teacher, s/he must be familiar with the K to 12 Filipino subject curriculum and could teach in both elementary and high school.

For English/Literature/Humanities subject teacher, s/he must be an engaging and student-centered teacher. The position includes instruction in a variety of English and literature blocks, history blocks, and practice subjects. Excellence in the English language (oral and written) is required. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities such as advising students, chaperoning field trips, participating in faculty committees, and engaging positively in the life of the school.
