Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist chefs in the preparation of ingredients in dishes.
  • Prepare basic items such as rice, miso soup, and dashi stock under supervision.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Handle and store Japanese ingredients properly
  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring freshness and correct inventory levels.
  • Dispose of waste properly and keep the kitchen area clean, sanitized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Support chefs in plating and garnishing dishes following Japanese presentation standards.
  • Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and work collaboratively with the kitchen team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a Japanese restaurant or with Japanese cuisine is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Japanese food ingredients and kitchen procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness standards.
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods, lift items, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Punctual, reliable, and responsible.
