Payroll Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to manage all aspects of employee compensation within our organization. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with labor laws, and excellent service to employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees across multiple departments.
  • Verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Handle wage garnishments, benefits deductions, bonuses, and other payroll-related items.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management and finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding salaries, deductions, and taxes.
  • Collaborate with HR on new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
  • Manage payroll tax filings and work with external auditors as necessary.
  • Suggest and help implement improvements in payroll processes and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll administration.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-state payrolls and international payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems.
