Our client is an established fire protection engineering consultancy and contracting company providing end-to-end design, consulting, and installation services for wet and dry fire systems across commercial and industrial sectors.
In addition to our fire protection operations, we are expanding into residential property development projects across Australia, beginning with developments in Western Australia.
We are seeking an Architectural Draftsperson / Technician to join our growing team, contributing to both our fire protection design projects and residential development initiatives.
The Architectural Draftsperson will be responsible for preparing, modifying, and managing architectural and construction documentation across commercial and residential projects.
They will assist with the design of floor plans, the development and amendment of CAD and Revit drawings, and the creation of 3D models for new projects and redevelopment works.
This role bridges the technical and design aspects of both commercial fire protection and residential architecture—requiring excellent spatial reasoning, regulatory awareness, and a practical understanding of buildability.
What You'll Do

- Create and maintain 3D models (Revit, SketchUp, or other BIM platforms) for project visualisation and coordination.
- Prepare documentation sets for planning applications, building permits, and construction issue drawings.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and site supervisors to align architectural layouts with fire, hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems.
- Ensure that spatial planning accommodates fire safety systems, plumbing runs, garage access, and construction sequencing.
- Liaise with external consultants, builders, and certifiers to obtain and integrate feedback.
- Assist in zoning and site layout checks, verifying compliance with council regulations and local development codes
- Research and apply Australian Standards, NCC Volume 1 & 2, and local planning frameworks relevant to both residential and commercial developments.
- Ensure designs meet local council, BCA, and accessibility requirements.
- Contribute to energy efficiency, acoustic, and fire compliance documentation as required.
- Support feasibility and concept design for new property developments.
- Assist in the evaluation of construction methods and materials for cost efficiency and compliance.
- Help develop internal drafting standards, templates, and design libraries.
We're looking for someone who:

- Understanding of NCC, Australian Standards, and local council planning and zoning requirements.
- Expertise in 3D integrated BIM modelling to facilitate coordinated project delivery.
- Strong spatial planning and logical layout skills (e.g. aligning plumbing stacks, fire service penetrations, access and egress).
- Ability to visualise 3D spaces and translate concepts into detailed working drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and file management.
- Clear communication skills and collaborative approach with engineers and project teams.
- Knowledge of fire protection layouts, wet/dry fire systems, or integration with building services.
- Experience with Western Australia's local planning schemes and R-Codes.
- Familiarity with 3D rendering tools or visualisation platforms (SketchUp, Enscape, Lumion, etc.).
Understanding of ISO 9001 documentation and controlled revision workflows.
- Analytical and practical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Keen eye for detail and ability to foresee construction challenges.
- Organised and methodical approach to documentation and deadlines.
- Interest in contributing to both commercial and residential project development.
- Eagerness to learn and grow with a company expanding its design and development capabilities.
